Debbie Carpenter and her husband realized they needed to be closer to his parents. They began looking at options for adding an addition to her home or building a separate structure on her land. Since she had a whole acre of land with her home in Magnolia, Texas, Debbie thought building a casita or cottage would be the perfect solution. This way, her parents could live close by but still have their own separate space. Debbie worked with Tilson Homes to create a custom design that perfectly matched her existing home. The Carpenters have friends who had built with Tilson Homes. The Carpenters were very impressed with the quality of that home and heard Tilson was easy to work with. They decided to stop by the location in Spring and see if Tilson could help with their casita project.

When they first walked into Tilson Homes, they immediately felt comfortable. They toured the models and felt confident that their home would be everything they wanted. They met Jerry, their sales consultant, and thought he was friendly and easy to talk to. He listened to their needs and went over and above to fulfill them. Jerry took an existing three-bedroom home and changed the layout to a single bedroom and bathroom with a walk-in shower that would be easily accessible for an elderly couple.

The subdivision required the new casita to match the brick of the existing home to make it look like it was always part of the house. Tilson Homes was able to find a perfect match, and the new casita looks like an extension of the original home. It blends beautifully with what was already there. Debbie is so pleased with how it turned out, and her parents are thrilled to have their own space that feels like home.
