Pat Mayo's 37-Year Journey at Tilson Homes

Building a custom home takes trust, dedication, and a team that genuinely cares about your vision. For over 90 years, Tilson Homes has focused on treating people right. No one embodies this core commitment quite like Patrick Mayo.

Pat has been a vital part of the Tilson family for 37 years. Starting his career with us at just 24 years old, he has built a legacy rooted in fairness, support, and continuous professional growth.

Growing Together: From Assistant to Vice President

Pat began his journey with Tilson Homes as a sales assistant. Through hard work and a passion for helping families build on their land, he steadily advanced from salesperson to sales manager. Today, he serves as Vice President of Sales for the Central Texas area, overseeing the Austin, San Antonio, and Waco regions.

His career path highlights a fundamental part of our mission. We believe in hiring good people and giving them the tools they need to thrive. Pat’s progression from an entry-level assistant to a respected Vice President proves that long-term career growth is a reality here.

A Culture Built on Fairness and Family

At our company, we prioritize fairness and family in all aspects of our business. Treating our employees with respect and providing a positive work-life balance results in a happier and more productive team.

We strive to create an environment where everyone feels valued and supported, regardless of their position within the company. This philosophy extends beyond just our employees - we also value fair treatment for our customers, partners, and suppliers.

Growth Opportunities for Everyone

As Pat's success story illustrates, we are committed to providing growth opportunities for all of our employees. Whether you're just starting out in your career or have been with us for years, we offer various training programs and advancement opportunities to help you reach your full potential.

What keeps someone at a company for nearly four decades? For Pat, it comes down to our family-owned roots. We treat everyone—both our customers and our team—like our own.

Pat takes great pride in his work because he can look a customer in the eye and know his team will treat them fairly. "We're going to treat them right," he shares. This exact same level of care extends inward to our staff. When new employees join our team from other companies, they frequently tell Pat that our nurturing, family-like support makes the biggest impact on them.

Investing in Our People

We want to make building a new home in Texas a joyful experience, and that starts with a confident, well-trained team. Our sales groups are small, close-knit, and heavily focused on peer-to-peer collaboration.

When a member of the sales team joins, they enter a comprehensive training process. Dedicated trainers and on-site managers guide them every step of the way. We even send new team members out to shadow experienced salespeople at different sales parks. This hands-on, immersive approach ensures they receive a well-rounded education. We give our staff the freedom to make decisions, and more importantly, we stand firmly behind them.

Join the Tilson Family

Pat Mayo’s incredible 37-year journey is a true testament to what happens when a company invests deeply in its people. We love building Texas dream homes, but we take just as much pride in building meaningful careers.
