Working with Curtis Bradford in our Katy Design Center, James and Sarah fell in love with the Magnolia plan. With Curtis' help, they implemented all of their personal touches to the plan perfectly. From a dedicated man cave to a luxurious walk-in shower, this home in Fort Bend County has plenty of custom features to enjoy. We're grateful to Sarah and James for allowing us to show you all their beautiful new home.
Floor Plan Changes
James and Sarah made a few changes to the floorplan of their custom Magnolia. First, they added a 2-car garage to the home. They also added a wall to close off the flex room so James could use it as his man cave. Finally, they increased the depth of their rear porch by 10 feet, creating a much larger space out back to relax and entertain.
Choosing the Masonry
On the outside of the home, James and Sarah chose to forego the included stucco on the front exterior in exchange for brick and board and batten. In the areas around the study and guest bedroom windows, they chose to go with brick on the top and stone on the bottom and kept the stone archway so that it would pop against the beautiful brick walls.
James and Sarah made a few customizations inside the home that really made the Magnolia plan personal and functional for their needs. For starters, they chose to remove the soaking tub and instead go with a massive walk-in shower in the master suite. The shower has his and hers shower heads and a sizeable bench. They added a deco tile band along the shower walls to add a nice accent to a beautiful shower.
In the flex room, which is now James’ man cave, they deleted two windows on the side of the home. They removed one of the two entry doors which Sarah uses as an office/workout area. They also added two built-in bookshelves on either side of the living room.
The included kitchen island in the Magnolia is curved and features a raised eating bar on one side but Sarah and James preferred the look of their expansive rectangular island with no eating bar. Their farmhouse sink sits in the middle of the island and three hanging pendant lights make the whole area pop.
