Crafted with Heart: The Byron-Paul Family’s Signature Barton Springs

The Byron-Paul family dreamed of building a home that reflected their personality, passions, and way of life. Their journey with Tilson Homes led them to the Barton Springs D plan, a flexible layout they tailored into a welcoming retreat in Williamson County. Through thoughtful design and meaningful customizations, their home is both warm and uniquely theirs.

For anyone inspired by timeless design blended with personal details, the Byron-Paul's home offers plenty to spark your imagination. Here’s a look at some of the features and choices that set their Barton Springs apart.

A Standout Exterior: Limestone and Blue Stucco

The Byron-Paul family envisioned a home that would make a memorable first impression while drawing inspiration from Texas heritage. They selected a Texas limestone mix for the exterior, paired with a blue stucco that subtly echoed the hues within the stone. Dark wood accents on the columns and trim complete the look, weaving together natural textures with a touch of personal style. The result: a striking home that feels both classic and refreshingly original.

A Kitchen Designed for Cooking and Connection

Knowing the kitchen would be the heart of their home, the family made custom choices to support everyday living and joyful gatherings.

  • Custom Kitchen Island: Painted a distinct blue, the large island features a built-in bookshelf, perfect for displaying their cherished cookbook collection collected during travels around the world. This personal touch adds color and utility—and often starts a conversation when guests visit.
  • Chef’s Touches: A pot filler over the cooktop has become a staple for quick pasta nights, while a decorative vent hood with a wooden mantle ties together the kitchen’s cozy, custom feel. The vent hood was a last-minute change when construction needs arose, but it became a favorite detail.
  • Sunlit Breakfast Nook: The addition of a bay window floods the kitchen with natural light and creates a special alcove for casual meals—a longtime dream for the family.

Inviting Spaces and Thoughtful Details

Step into the family room, and you’ll find spaces designed for gathering and comfort. A cathedral ceiling with a rough-sawn beam draws the eye upward and opens the space to backyard views, while the floor-to-ceiling Texas limestone fireplace is perfect for cool evenings. For added function, the hearth was finished smooth to make it easy to sit by the fire or set down a warm cup of coffee, a subtle detail, but one that speaks to thoughtful living.

A Spa-Inspired Master Suite

The primary suite is truly a retreat. The Byron-Paul family chose the Alternate Bath II layout, creating a luxurious wet room with a freestanding tub inside a spacious walk-in shower. Floor-to-ceiling tile, dual shower heads, and full-height glass panels give the space a modern, restful feel. It’s a perfect oasis to unwind after a busy day.

Smart Features for Daily Living

Beyond the living spaces, the family added details to make life a little easier and more fun!

  • Private Home Office: By enclosing the standard study with doors and adding a central floor plug, they created a focused workspace.
  • A Secret Hideaway: Their daughter's room features a custom bookshelf with a secret door leading to a small playroom, making her space both cozy and magical.
  • A Flexible Bonus Room: Upstairs, the bonus room offers hangout space and easy attic access—no pull-down ladders required.
