The Ordonez Family’s Angelina C: A Foundation of Memories
Building a custom home on your land is about more than just framing, sheetrock, and shingles. It is about creating a backdrop for your life’s most important moments. It is about interpreting a dream and turning it into a tangible reality where holidays will be hosted, milestones will be celebrated, and quiet Sunday mornings will be enjoyed.
For over 90 years, we have had the privilege of helping Texas families build their legacies. Every home we build tells a unique story, and today, we are incredibly proud to share the story of the Ordonez Family in Hill County and their stunning new Angelina C.
From the moment the foundation was poured to the final ribbon-cutting ceremony, the Ordonez Family infused their journey with joy, personal touches, and a clear vision of what "home" means to them. Their new Angelina C is a perfect example of how our flexible floor plans can be tailored to fit a family's specific style—blending modern design with the warmth of traditional Texas hospitality.

The Angelina C: Modern Farmhouse Perfection
The Ordonez Family chose the Angelina C, a floor plan known for its spacious layout and welcoming exterior. One look at their finished home, and you can see why this design remains a favorite among our homeowners.

They opted for a crisp, modern farmhouse aesthetic that stands out beautifully against the Texas sky. The exterior features bright white vertical board-and-batten siding that gives the home a clean, contemporary feel. To create contrast, they selected dark trim for the rooflines and windows, along with a dark charcoal roof.
The front porch is a showstopper in itself. Featuring rough sawn wood details with exposed beams and trusses, it adds a rustic, architectural element that softens the modern lines of the siding. It is the kind of porch that invites you to sit in a rocking chair with a glass of iced tea, watching the sunset over your property. It sets the tone for the rest of the home: elegant, sturdy, and deeply inviting.

At the heart of the Ordonez Family's new home is a kitchen designed with both beauty and everyday living in mind. This open-concept space flows seamlessly into the living and dining areas, making it perfect for entertaining guests or enjoying weeknight dinners together. The light wood cabinetry, paired with sleek dark countertops, creates a balanced look that feels both modern and welcoming.
The centerpiece of the kitchen is a spacious island, offering plenty of room for meal prep, morning coffee, or gathering around with family and friends. Above, contemporary lighting fixtures cast a warm glow, highlighting the thoughtful finishes throughout. Modern appliances, ample storage, and a classic subway tile backsplash make this kitchen as functional as it is stunning—a place where new traditions and treasured recipes will be shared for years to come.

A Living Room Designed for Views
When you build on your own land, you often do so because you love the location. Whether it is a wide-open pasture, a wooded retreat, or a hilltop view, you want your home to capture that scenery. The Ordonez Family prioritized this connection to the outdoors in their living room design.
The heart of their Angelina C is the gathering space, which features a vaulted ceiling that draws the eye upward, making the room feel incredibly airy and grand. Running across the vault are rich, stained wooden beams. These beams provide warmth and texture, grounding the space and connecting it visually to the timber elements on the front porch.
However, the true centerpiece of the living room is the magnificent wall of windows.
Bringing the Outdoors In
- The View: Three large rectangular windows at the bottom offer an expansive, uninterrupted view of their property, framing the Texas landscape like a living painting.
- The Light: Above the main windows, geometric transom windows trace the roofline, capturing the changing light throughout the day.
This design choice transforms the living room. It isn't just a place to watch TV; it is a space that breathes. It allows the family to feel connected to their land even when they are comfortably indoors. Whether it is watching a summer storm roll in or enjoying the bright morning sun, this wall of windows ensures nature is always part of their daily life.

A Master Bathroom Retreat
While the living room is designed for gathering, the master bathroom is designed for solitude and rejuvenation. The Ordonez Family created a space that rivals high-end spas, proving that functionality and luxury can coexist beautifully. The design theme here is a masterful study in contrast. They balanced light and dark elements to create a room that feels both modern and warm.
The Walk-In Shower
The focal point of the bathroom is undoubtedly the expansive walk-in shower. Deviating from standard white tile, the family chose a bold, dark gray rectangular tile for the shower walls.
- Texture and Detail: The flood of the shower features a herringbone pattern in dark tile, adding a subtle layer of visual interest.
- Natural Light: A large window located adjacent to the shower enclosure prevents the dark tile from feeling enclosed. Instead, it illuminates the space, highlighting the sleek black fixtures and the built-in bench.
