Our Most Popular Custom Options

Designing Your Home

Building your dream home is an exciting process, and one of the best parts is being able to customize every aspect to fit your preferences. We've compiled a list of our customers' most popular selections when designing their new homes, from fireplaces to ceiling details and beyond.

The room receiving the most personalization is almost always the kitchen. This can include added square footage, larger or separate cooktops, larger islands, additional islands, and larger pantries. Additional options such as pot fillers, farmhouse sinks, glass rinsers, and various cabinet features like pull-out trays and spice racks are also popular choices. When it comes to the island details, decorative elements like X shapes or shelves on the ends can add a unique touch to the space.

Family rooms and master suites are another area where customers love to make custom changes. Ceiling alterations such as box beam, cathedral, stepped, sloped, or cathedral ceiling with truss can create a distinct look in these spaces. Extended rear porches are also frequently requested for outdoor living areas that seamlessly flow from indoor spaces.

Fireplace options are a favorite choice for adding warmth and coziness to a home. Customers often consider variables like the type of fireplace (wood or gas), surround materials and height, and the inclusion of a mantle. The fireplace can serve as a focal point in any room and reflect the homeowner's style preferences. There are so many ways to customize a fireplace, the possibilities are nearly endless!

Bathrooms are another area where customization is key for our customers. Alternate layouts with separate shower and tub configurations or walk-in showers, large soaking tubs, or freestanding tubs are highly sought after. Wet rooms that enclose the tub within the shower space offer a spa-like experience at home. Master closet changes and Jack-and-Jill bathrooms are also popular requests for functional yet stylish additions.

Garage changes round out the list of top custom options for dream homes. While many customers have alternative storage options on their land, such as barns or sheds, several opt to add 2-car or 3-car garages. The options are endless for adding a garage from front or side load layouts to alternative locations on the home or even a detached garage connected to the home by a breezeway or porte cochere.

From kitchen layouts to family rooms and master suites to fireplaces, bathrooms, and garages – there are endless possibilities when it comes to customizing your new home. You can customize your dream home by visiting our interactive floorplans page to get started designing the home of your dreams.
