A Look Inside a Custom Angelina Farmhouse

Custom Homes, Home Tour

Seeing a family turn a floor plan into their forever home is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do. It’s a special process to watch a house become a home, tailored perfectly to the family that will live and grow within its walls. We recently visited the Hammack family in Victoria County to tour their beautiful custom Angelina, and their story is a wonderful example of how personal touches can create a truly unique living space.

The Hammacks had a clear vision: a modern farmhouse with an open, inviting feel that catered to their family's needs. From a completely transformed exterior to clever interior modifications, they took our popular Angelina plan and made it entirely their own. Let's walk through the custom home features and thoughtful upgrades that define this stunning property.

A Modern Farmhouse Exterior

The first impression of the Hammack home is unforgettable. They transformed the standard Angelina A elevation into a modern farmhouse masterpiece that perfectly reflects their style. This wasn't just a color change; it was a complete reimagining of the home's character.

They started by removing all the brick, opting instead for crisp board and batten siding in a warm gray. This choice immediately established the farmhouse aesthetic. To add a layer of classic elegance and texture, they incorporated beautiful stone around the base of the home and on the porch pillars. The contrast between the soft gray siding, the white stone, and the dark stain on the porch beams creates a welcoming and visually striking facade.

Practical needs were also addressed. The family needed a garage that could accommodate a large SUV, so they worked with our team to make the attached garage bigger. This is a perfect example of how building a custom home on your land allows you to adjust for real-life needs without compromise.

An Open and Airy Interior

Stepping inside, the sense of space is immediate. A key priority for the Hammacks was an open-concept living area where the family could gather without barriers. Having previously lived in a home with a closed-off kitchen, Megan was determined to create a layout where she could be part of every moment, whether she was cooking or helping with homework.

One of the most dramatic features is the cathedral ceiling in the main living area. This custom option was a must-have for the family, not only for the grand, open feeling it provides but also to ensure her 6'6" husband felt comfortable and at home. A stunning rough-sawn wood beam draws the eye upward and extends all the way from the living room to the back porch, connecting the indoor and outdoor spaces.

To enhance the cozy atmosphere, the Hammacks added an electric fireplace surrounded by the same beautiful stone from the exterior. It offers the warmth and ambiance of a real fire with the simple flip of a switch, creating a perfect spot to hang Christmas stockings and gather on cool evenings.

Innovative Design & Personalized Upgrades

Every corner of the Hammack home showcases thoughtful customizations that enhance both function and style. These changes, big and small, are what make this house a perfect fit for their family.

The Heart of the Home: A Custom Kitchen

The kitchen is a masterclass in smart design. By making one simple change to the foyer, removing a coat closet they didn't need in South Texas, the Hammacks gained valuable square footage. This allowed them to extend the kitchen and add more cabinet space, a crucial feature for any busy family.

The centerpiece of the kitchen is the massive, customized island. Enlarged and detailed with decorative pillars, it provides ample seating for their children's breakfast and serves as a generous workspace for meal prep and entertaining. Key farmhouse elements, like a large stainless steel farmhouse sink and a classic subway tile backsplash, tie the look together. The addition of a stylish vent hood adds a final touch of custom charm.

A Master Suite Built for Comfort
The Hammacks chose to reverse the entire floor plan, moving the master suite to the right side of the house. They also enlarged the master bedroom, adding extra space to comfortably fit their furniture. This flexibility is a core benefit of the custom home building process.

In the master bathroom, they continued to tailor the space to their lifestyle. As a family that prefers showers over baths, they removed the standard tub. This allowed them to create a larger, more luxurious walk-in shower and use the remaining space to expand their master closet. They chose a beautiful hexagon tile for the shower floor as an upgraded accent, while turning the standard wall tile on a diagonal to give it a custom look.

Smart and Cohesive Choices
Throughout the home, the Hammacks made consistent design choices that create a seamless flow. They used the same granite on all countertops and carried the luxury vinyl plank flooring through the main living areas. For added warmth and comfort underfoot, they opted for plush carpeting in the bedrooms. This cohesive approach makes the entire home feel intentional and beautifully connected.

The Hammack family’s Angelina is more than just a house; it’s a reflection of their personality, their needs, and their dreams. Their journey shows how a great partnership and a clear vision can transform a floor plan into a personalized haven.
