A Custom Palo Duro C in San Jacinto County: The Hintzel Home

Build On Your Land, Custom Homes

Every home tells a story. For the Hintzel family, that story starts on a piece of land in San Jacinto County and ends with their custom-built living space, designed exactly as they envisioned. We were honored to walk alongside them from the very first planning conversation through move-in day. Their floor plan of choice? The Palo Duro C. Three bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms, and a smart split layout that gives every member of the family their own space without losing that open, connected feel.

About the Palo Duro C Floor Plan

The Palo Duro is one of Tilson's most popular floor plans, and it's easy to understand why. The kitchen and dining area anchor the center of the home, flowing naturally into the family room so whether you're cooking dinner or helping with homework, everyone stays close. On the far side of the home, Bedrooms 2 and 3 share the secondary bathroom in their own wing, set comfortably apart from the primary suite for privacy all around. The C elevation brings a traditional farmhouse look to the design, complete with board-and-batten detailing and a welcoming front porch that fits right in with the natural landscape of San Jacinto County.

The Exterior & Back Porch
The Palo Duro C's farmhouse exterior is a natural fit for San Jacinto County. Dark charcoal board-and-batten siding, black-framed windows with warm wood shutters, and decorative gable trusses give the Hintzel home a bold, grounded curb appeal. Cedar posts, warm wood accents, and neutral tones help the home settle into its wooded surroundings rather than stand apart from them.

Around back, the home really opens up. Large picture windows and French doors frame sweeping views of the tall pines and open sky, pulling the outdoors in and filling the back of the home with light. Stepping outside, the Hintzels extended the rear covered porch and added a cathedral ceiling with exposed timber framing. Tongue-and-groove wood paneling lines the vaulted ceiling, warm recessed lighting glows above, and cedar posts anchor the structure. It's a finished, intentional outdoor space built for long evenings with family.

The Family Room
The family room is where the Palo Duros open layout really shines. The Hintzel's added a cathedral ceiling that flows seamlessly onto the covered porch, making the whole space feel taller and brighter. Large fixed picture windows line the back wall, framing unobstructed views of the wooded property. Open, easy, and built for real family life.

The Kitchen
The kitchen makes a statement the moment you walk in. A large dark green island anchors the space, topped with thick white quartz and fitted with a matte-black gooseneck faucet and an undermount sink. Crisp white shaker-style cabinets run the perimeter of the kitchen, and they're all dressed with matte black hardware. A custom light-wood vent hood warms the back wall, framed by white subway tile throughout the cooking area. Stainless appliances, including a gas stove top, dishwasher, and built-in microwave, tuck neatly into the cabinetry. Light wood flooring ties the kitchen naturally to the dining area and family room.

The Primary Suite
Tucked away on its own side of the home, the primary suite is the Hintzel family's private retreat. Light flooring, soft neutral walls, and large windows keep the space comfortable and calm.

The Primary Bathroom
The Hintzel primary bathroom is something special. At the heart of it is a stunning wet-room enclosure framed in floor-to-ceiling frameless glass. Inside, a freestanding white soaking tub sits centered beneath a large picture window with an uninterrupted view of the trees. On both sides of the tub, you'll find matching dual shower stations, each fitted with matte black showerheads, individual valve controls, and recessed niches for toiletries. White-and-gray herringbone mosaic tile covers the wet-room floor and wraps up the back accent wall, while large-format marble-look tile lines the shower walls in a clean horizontal pattern.

Outside the glass, two dark green vanities anchor the room on either side, each topped with white quartz and paired with matte black hardware. It's a bathroom that delivers real luxury without feeling out of place in a home built for family life.

The Secondary Bedrooms & Hall Bathroom
Located on the opposite side of the home from the primary suite, the secondary bedrooms each have walk-in closets, a detail that sets the Palo Duro apart from many plans in this size range. The shared hall bathroom serves this wing of the home with convenience and privacy.

Powder Bathroom
Tucked just off the main living area, the powder bath is a small space that makes a real impression. Soft greige walls, bold black-and-white patterned tile flooring, a white pedestal sink, and matte black hardware tie it neatly to the rest of the home. A frameless mirror and rustic-modern vanity light with clear glass shades finish the room off nicely.

Building a Home That's Truly Yours

The Hintzel family's Palo Duro C is a reminder of what custom home building is really about. It's not just a floor plan. It's a starting point. Every selection, from the exterior elevation to the generously sized walk-in pantry lined wall-to-wall with shelving, was made by a family who knew what they wanted and had a team ready to help them get there.

Even the utility room, outfitted with forest-green cabinetry, white countertops, a farmhouse sink, and bold patterned tile, speaks to the same level of care. It's a large, hardworking space that earns its square footage every day.
