If you’re looking for beautiful lakes and rolling hills, you don’t have to look any further than one of the fastest-growing counties in Texas: Burnet County. With 46,804 friendly residents, Burnet is located on Edwards Plateau and named for the first president of the Republic of Texas, David Gouverneur Burnet. One popular location is the Longhorn Cavern State Park, where you can take an underground walking tour. Inks Lake State Park is another popular location, loved for camping, hiking, biking, and swimming. If the skies are grey, duck into the city of Burnet for a sampling of historical museums.
