****UPDATE: On February 22, 2021, the Hidalgo Model in San Marcos was closed to prepare for a new model in 2022. It is no longer available for tours. ****
Whether you just need a couple of guest rooms or need a five-bedroom house to fit your growing family, the Hidalgo
is a versatile house that can be customized to meet your needs.
Right when you enter the Hidalgo, there’s a coat closet to the right and an open dining room to the left. The first thing your guests will see when they walk in is a beautifully set table. There’s a powder room just around the corner, and a second entrance to the kitchen right across from the dining room. This layout is great for those who like to invite family and friends over for holiday meals or Sunday dinners.
The kitchen has a partially open wall with columns looking out into the family room, which is great for keeping everyone connected. There’s a counter with an eating bar that wraps around the corner, as well as a breakfast nook at the rear. The breakfast nook is quiet and cheerful place to enjoy some coffee in the morning, or sit down for a less formal meal, like cereal with the kids before school.
In the original layout, the kitchen has a small eating bar and a modest corner pantry. An alternate layout extends the island and sets the eating bar against the family room, leaving the kitchen completely open to the breakfast nook.
When you’re not serving a delicious meal, the family room will be the center of your gatherings. It’s spacious and bright, and has a good view of every other room in the center of your home. There’s a wall of windows looking out onto a covered porch at the rear, which feels like a natural expansion of the space. It’s a nice spot to sit and take in the view of your property. If you want more space for chairs and tables outside, we’ll extend the covered porch even further.
The bedrooms in the Hidalgo are on opposite sides of the home. The master suite takes up the entire left side. Its bathroom has a large walk-in closet, two separated vanities, and an enclosed toilet, giving you and your partner plenty of room so you’re never competing for space. On the right side of the home, a hallway branches off from the family room, leading to three bedrooms, a shared bathroom, and the utility room.
There are many ways to customize the living quarters on the right side. If you don’t need three bedrooms, one can easily be converted into a study with an entrance through the foyer. This also allows the bathroom to be converted to Jack & Jill style.
Another option is to turn the extra bedroom into a guest suite, complete with its own full bathroom.
